Welcome

I love Japanese ceramics. Having lived in Japan for many years, and now going back and forth between the USA and Japan often, I am able to research the ceramics that I love. I have visited many kilns throughout Japan, attended many exhibitions, visited large ceramic museums and hole in the wall shows. I have met many wonderful potters, some famous in the West, some not. I have researched many potters and their marks. I also have a large collection of books on the subject of Japanese ceramics and have information on many marks in my files. Marks I have recorded here are from my own collection, others are from books, pamphlets, friends and “papers” from the kilns themselves. When I first started this blog I intended it as a way to learn about the many modern pieces I was finding and to keep track of what I was learning. Over time I have also begun studying and collecting vintage and antique ceramics as well. These will also be included even if they don't really fall under the original title for my blog. I no longer take queries. Please use the many groups on Japanese ceramics available on Facebook. *Disclaimer: This blog is a hobby for me. It is a work in progress. There may occasionally be errors. I correct them when discovered. This blog is not meant to be a means of determining authenticity or value.
