TYPES OF TEA CUPS

 Yunomi- cup for daily use (often come in sets called Meoto yunomi or couple cups where one is smaller than the other)










Kumidashi - usually come in 6cm x 10cm tea cups, often used for serving tea to guests outside of the tea room prior to the formal tea ceremony, usually sold in sets of five.  Often used for daily use. 









Sencha cups, usually come in a set of five cups with a small pot with out a handle (hōhin). Sencha is a higher grade of tea and usually stronger. 











Nodate tea bowl- picnic tea ceremony bowl, smaller than regular tea bowls, for use in outdoor settings












Matcha chawan- tea bowl for tea ceremony/ serving matcha





Tsutsu gata chawan- winter tea bowl











Hira or natsu chawan- summer tea bowl
